What is the cost of living in Singapore?

Living in Singapore is surprisingly comparable to the US, with everyday expenses actually a touch lower. A 1-bedroom apartment in the city center runs about $2,300 USD per month, while outside the center it drops to $1,700. Utilities are reasonable, around $100-$150 monthly. Groceries will set you back about $300-$400 for a single person. Transport is excellent and affordable; a monthly pass is around $90. Eating out at a casual restaurant costs about $10-$15 per meal. Keep in mind that while the general cost of living is slightly lower, luxury items and alcohol can be significantly more expensive due to high taxes.
